The Size of Your Problem is No Match for the Size of Your God
We’ve all been there. Staring at a situation that seems utterly impossible. A diagnosis that shakes us to our core, a financial hole that seems too deep to climb out of, a broken relationship that feels beyond repair. In these moments, we pray for a miracle, but a part of us wonders if our request is just too big, too complicated, too far-fetched.
If that’s you, I want to offer a perspective that can reshape your faith and fuel your hope: "Miracles are no big deal for God."
At first glance, this might sound almost disrespectful. How can the incredible, life-changing power of a miracle be “no big deal”? But this statement isn’t meant to diminish the wonder of miracles. Instead, it magnifies the majesty of the Miracle-Worker.
What Does "Miracles Are No Big Deal for God" Really Mean?
Think about it this way: What’s a simple task for you? Tying your shoe. Making a sandwich. Sending a text message. You don’t break a sweat or doubt your ability to do it. The effort required is minimal for you, even though to a young child, those same tasks seem complex and magical.
Now, scale that up to an infinite degree. The God who spoke galaxies into existence, who designed the intricate laws of physics, and who holds the universe in place does not operate with the same limited resources, energy, or understanding that we do.
· Healing a disease? For the Creator of the human body, it’s like the original Designer performing a simple repair.
· Providing financially? For the Owner of “the cattle on a thousand hills” (Psalm 50:10), it’s a minor transfer of resources.
· Restoring a broken heart? For the source of all love and peace, it’s a natural outpouring of His character.
The "bigness" or "smallness" of a problem is a human measurement. God exists outside of those constraints. What feels like an immovable mountain to us is a mere grain of sand to Him.
The Liberating Truths We Can Learn From This.
This idea isn’t meant to make our problems seem trivial; it’s meant to make our God bigger. And that shift in perspective changes everything.
1. It Encourages Us to Ask for More. We often limit our prayers to what we think is "reasonable" or "possible." But if miracles are no big deal for God, why are we so timid? We can come to Him with boldness, asking for the "impossible" because we understand that the size of our request doesn’t strain the size of His power.
2. It Replaces Anxiety with Anticipation. When we truly believe that our challenge is not too hard for God, our frantic worry can turn into peaceful anticipation. We can stop asking, "God, can you do this?" and start trusting, "God, I know you will handle this in your perfect way and timing." The pressure shifts from our shoulders to His.
3. It Reminds Us That the "How" is His Business. We often get stressed trying to figure out how God will pull off a miracle. We try to map it out for Him. But if miracles are effortless for God, He doesn’t need our contingency plans. He can part the Red Sea, send manna from heaven, or use a boy’s lunch to feed thousands. Our job is to trust; His job is to work.
How to Apply This Truth When You’re Waiting for a Miracle
So, how do we live this out when we’re in the middle of the storm?
· Pray with Audacious Faith: Stop editing your prayers. Bring the real, raw, and “impossible” request to God. Don’t let the scale of your need silence you.
· Shift Your Focus: Look at your problem, and then deliberately lift your eyes to look at God. Read about His power in scripture. Remember His past faithfulness in your life and in the lives of others. Magnify Him until your problem seems smaller by comparison.
· Rest in His Nature: Choose to believe that God is not nervous, stressed, or puzzled by your situation. He is sovereign and calm. Find peace in His unchanging character.
Your Mountain is His Molehill
Whatever you are facing today, remember this: the God you serve is not intimidated. He is not scrambling for a solution. Your miracle—the one you’re desperately hoping for—is not a complicated, exhausting endeavor for Him, It’s no big deal.
So, take a deep breath. Let go of the burden of trying to make it happen yourself. Trust in the God for whom the impossible is just another opportunity to show His love and power. Your situation is not too hard for Him. Have faith.
What ‘impossible’ situation are you facing that you need to trust God with today? Share it in the comments as a declaration of faith, and let’s encourage one another.
